06 February 2010

Three matches within three weeks against non-Armenian clubs, training sessions together and several occasions for the youth of our Armeno-Egyptian clubs to unite, play and cheer for our “Havakagan”:  that’s the upshot of the “united” sports program offered by the youth of our clubs in the coming few weeks. The first match of the Armeno-Egyptian selection will be at HMEM Nubar Cairo on Friday 12 February at 8:30 pm against the “Dakheleya” club, the second match on 19th February against “Al Ahly’s” U-20 team at HMEM Ararat and the third on 5th March in St. Therese against a team yet to be decided.

The team is coached by Khoren Kalenian and administered by George Torossian.

After the brilliant performances of the united Armeno-Egyptians basketball men’s team at the Pan-Armenian Games last August in Yerevan, and the excellent level of play, and above all, the excellent team spirit and solidarity put on view by the players, officials and fans of all of the 5 Armeno-Egyptian clubs involved, the decision to unite the team to train and defend our “tri-colours” of origin is to be praised and commended.

I'd like to congratulate all those who were able to bring this team together. I think we should all go to cheer "our" Havakagan team and let organizers know they are moving in the right direction.
